DRG is proud to have added many important projects to the Kansas City community. Over the years, our transportation practice designed much of the roadway system in Kansas City, Kansas, including Interstate 70 from the Missouri state line to Topeka and the entire original route of Interstate 435 on the Kansas side of the interstate loop. Included in this work was the Maltese cross interchange at I-35 and I-435; the largest of its type in the mid-west.

Our environmental practice has had its share of important projects, as well. In 1968, the Kaw Point Wastewater treatment plant in Kansas City, Kansas was the first municipal use of fluidized bed incineration in the US, which is still the state of the art. Pure-Oxygen Activated Sludge, the cutting edge process at the time, was design by DRG for use at Kaw Point in 1979.

The Wyandotte County Justice Complex stands as an important example of the multi-discipline teaming efforts within DRG. This concrete structure with pre-cast architectural facial panels and a post-tensioned concrete parking garage effectively blends the historic Wyandotte County Courthouse with a new, high security detention complex in downtown KC. Careful and innovative designs by our structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and architectural staffs brought this standout project together ahead of schedule and under budget, while winning awards along the way.

DRG continues to make its mark on the Kansas-Missouri landscape. Soon, a new modified Maltese Cross, full-directional, four-level interchange will welcome westbound motorists to Kansas City at I-435 and I-70, by the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex. Our innovative design approach will allow the new interchange to be built within and around the existing interchange, thus minimizing traffic impact. DRG is designing an important link in the Page Avenue project in St. Louis. The Kansas State Capitol Complex in Topeka has recently benefited from a sophisticated UPS and standby generation upgrade to keep the Capitol's critical buildings and computer systems up and running at all times. Our environmental staff is helping Kansas City, Kansas comply with complex and costly sewer separation and control in its urban core. The flood-plagued West Bottoms will see relief in the future with help from DRG civil engineers. We continue to help engineer and maintain sophisticated flood protection systems for a large part of the industrial complexes in Kansas City.

DRG has great working relationships with many specialty firms and can accordingly provide state-of-the-art expertise on any project assignment that we undertake. Our clients can be assured that we will provide them with the best personnel for the unique requirements of their project, not just the personnel that a larger firm may have "in-house". This way we provide the best of both worlds: a moderate sized firm that facilitates close client ties with the expertise of some of the consulting "titans".
